What is so special about a wedding! Is this the decoration covering whole the venue! Is it the bride or the groom? Or the dresses and jewelleries they wear? Probably and mostly the specialty is the fact that wedding is once in a life time occasion. And most other things related to it like the decoration, dress, wedding jewellery only compliment in this process. Because wedding is an occasion that comes only and mostly once in a lifetime so other complimentary things like the wedding gown, wedding jewellery, the bouquet, the bridal veil, the bridesmaid and her dress and jewellery become very important in this occasion.

Though the main important factor in a wedding is the couple about to get married, yet there are important and very important things like the wedding dress and the wedding jewellery. Traditionally brides all over the world, irrespective of cast, religion, tribes and society, prefer to be most beautifully dressed and a bride is the centre of attention in a wedding ceremony. Depending on the religion, society, geographical difference, culture a wedding gown and wedding jewellery can vary accordingly. There is always a good piece of difference between the western wedding dresses and eastern wedding dresses as well as wedding jewelleries. Western wedding dresses are traditionally white whereas the eastern counterparts are mostly red. The white is the colour of mourning for the eastern countries and using white in a wedding dress is not even dreamt in these nations. Even in France till the marriage of Mary Queen of Scots with Francois II, white was considered as inauspicious. It was the official colour of mourning. But with the wedding dresses worn by Mary Queen of Scots and Queen Victoria in colour white the use of white in wedding dresses came into being in France. In western countries dark colours are not preferred for wedding dress. Colours like red and black are mostly avoided in wedding dresses. Black is the colour for mourning and red is something associated with prostitution.

Most of the wedding dresses in China, India and Vietnam are red in colour, the traditional color of good luck and auspiciousness in Asia. Nowadays, many women prefer not to wear the red and choose other colors. In modern Chinese weddings, the bride usually wears the white Western dress and then changes from a white gown to a red gown later in the day. Gold coloured gowns are also popular among Chinese brides. In India the traditional the traditional wedding dress is a sari and lehenga choli accompanied by handmade wedding jewellery in gold. In Vietnam, the traditional wedding dress is Ao Dai and Vietnamese brides prefer lesser amount of wedding jewellery. In Japan, brides use to wear three four traditional wedding dresses throughout the ceremony named Kimono in white and other colours. In Indonesia, Javanese people wear Kebaya as their wedding dress.

In America the indigenous peoples like Hopi, Pueblo, Delawares, Klamath, Modoc, and Yurok etc. have different traditions in wearing a wedding dress. Some of them use natural materials whereas others use animal skins as a tradition.

Wherever you go, whatever you prefer, you would always find wedding dresses and accompanying wedding jewellery at its vast differences across the world. But main theme attached to a wedding dress is that the Bride is the centre of attention irrespective of any difference available worldwide.
